It’s said that the South Korean actor Lee Jun Ki wishes to fulfill his duty to his country.
According to a recent interview Jun Ki said that he plans to enlist in the army next year. If he follows through with his plans, Jun Ki will join ballad singers Eru, Sun Si Kyung and actor Gong Yoo.
But before he leaves Jun Ki plans to finish all unfinished work. He is currently working on the drama “Iljimae,” a Korean Robin Hood story. Jun Ki plays a young man who robs the corrupted officials after discovering the truth behind his father’s murder. After every robbery he leaves behind a painting of a plum tree branch, causing the citizens to know him as Iljimae. And though it isn’t confirmed, Jun Ki may star in the disaster film “Haeundae,” said to start filming in August 2008.
Jun Ki is well known for his roles in “My Girl” and “Time Between Dog and Wolf,” winning an Excellence Award for the latter drama. He also impressed film critics with the 2005 movie “The King and the Clown,” where he played the role of an effeminate entertainer who attracted the king. Jun Ki won many awards for his portrayal, including Best New Actor at the 5th Korea Film Awards.
